Sony Ericsson LiveView Android accessory announced

Sony Ericsson has introduced a new Bluetooth accessory for
Android phones called
LiveView. This tiny module is essentially an OLED screen that lets you see what's new on your Android smartphone without having to actually take the handset out of your pocket. Its interface allows viewing of RSS feeds, new text messages and even updates from social-networking services such as Twitter and Facebook. LiveView can also be used to control music playback so you don't have to whip out the phone just to skip a track or adjust the volume.
Equipped with a clip on the back, this accessory is meant to be attached unobtrusively to the user's clothing or a bag strap. It can also be affixed to a wristband so you get a wristwatch that controls your phone. This is not unlike Sony Ericsson's earlier efforts to create a Bluetooth watch with fashion accessory brand Fossil. LG also has a similar product called the Prada Link, which works with the Korean company's Prada II handset

The LiveView accessory works with Android 2.0 and later smartphones, which is strange considering Sony Ericsson's own Android devices are stuck in Donut (Android 1.6) land currently. However, that should change by the time LiveView is available at the end of the year as Sony Ericsson's update to Android 2.1 for its Xperia range is expected to go live in October. No pricing details have been announced for the LiveView as yet......
